Who is it for ?
The FCS Academy was launched in January 2019 after a successful trial period in the December of 2018. The reason behind its formation was to provide Professional, Academy standard coaching to local players regardless of ability.
Having worked in Academy football for years as well as being involved in grassroots for over a decade, FCS Founder & Head Coach Mike realised the significant difference in coaching standards & how large numbers of grassroot players were not able to reach their potential due to the environment they are in.
Mike says, "The quality of coaching grassroot players receive is a lottery really. Whilst there are some superb coaches out there, a large majority are just parent volunteers with basic qualifications who have stepped up when others wouldn't...i was once one of them ! These individuals are grassroot heroes in providing the opportunities for players to play but lack the knowledge, experience & often ambition, of those who have worked or work at the Professional level. It is difficult for them to create a training programme or environment for players to really become the best they can & get close to reaching their potential. The FCS Academy was created to allow players to receive additional Professional training to compliment their other football sessions."
Within our first 6 months we have had the pleasure of coaching over 100 different players in our sessions with 3 going on to sign for Professional Club Academies, another go on trial at Manchester United, a host of players attracting interest from scouts of other Pro clubs whilst at the opposite end of the scale & equally rewarding, we have had players play their first ever competitive matches in a team...& score goals regularly ! We have played fixtures private Academies, Pro Club Academies as well as grassroot teams to challenge our players & give them as much exposure as we can to scouts.
